I discovered this Myrmecophila tibicinis orchid at the Lankester Botanical Garden in Costa Rica. Its species name refers to a flute or pipe player, while Myrmecophila means “ant loving.” Those two associations inspired the title Ant Orchestra. I was captivated by its unusual form, color and interaction with light.
